Elba Island is the choice of the crews of the “Luna Rossa” and “Mascalzone Latino”, the Italian sailing boats which take part to the American Cup. The “Mascalzone Latino” crew has chosen Elba as their training site, while the “Prada” team is also known to be fond of the island.
Elba Island is also the location of a very famous race open to the teams competing in the America’s Cup, this race is called the “Toscana Elba Cup-Trofeo Locman” (10-18 May). There are also many regattas held at different locations on its coastline all year round.
There are numerous harbours for sail or motorboats. The island also attracts lovers of canoeing, windsurfing and kayaking.
